Illinois children denied food!
I am writing to bring awareness to all parents whose children attend Public schools. Our tiny little town of Earlville, Illinois decided to be the 1st school (at least in Illinois to deny children the ability to purchase hot lunch! Unless the children biometrically scanned - giving access to their unique identifying information. Even though we told the administration, teachers etc. that our children were not to scan ,our 7 year old was scanned anyway and hushed and told to scan when he tried to explain-again, he was not to scan. We complained to the administration, the board, went to the local paper, then I decided to write letters to all members of Illinois legislation which prompted Senator Miguel Del Valle to introduce a bill SB2549.(hopefully when passed to be known as Brooke & Gunners Law)When did it become acceptable for anyone especially faculty of an Illinois Public schools to have the say on whether or not a child eats and at what cost? We then took our childrens story National and the story aired Nov 7th ,06 on CBN. The bill is now stuck in rules and I have written to request the bill get released .Unfortunately Senator Miguel Del Valle has stepped down and to my understanding passed this bill to Senator delgodo. My Children and our family have been ridiculed throughout this small town and it appears very few are willing to stand up to this school board .( after the things we have been through I quickly understood why nobody else would stand up.) Well I still believe 1 voice is all it takes to take a stand & when it comes to childrens safety, civil rights & privacy rights , I will ! For more information concerning this matter
you may also go to the EFF website Nov 2006 deeplinks section under Nov 16th . Titled : First RFIDs & now fingerprinting students. (Fingerscanning.)
Please write your Senators , State Reps, and any/everybodyyou can to help get SB 2549 out of rules and passed (especially Illinois Parents.) Protect our children s unique identifying info & their rights.
Thank you ,
Joy Robinson-Van Gilder
